Since 2008 we have helped hundred of families and worked with over 4000 of Dunedin's children.
Chatbus is a safe place for children to go when they don’t want to talk to anyone else. Do you remember being a child… perhaps the last person on earth you wanted to tell your embarrassing secret to was your teacher, mum or dad!
We hear everything from friendship issues, bullying, family bereavement and divorce, to serious cases of neglect or abuse that no-one else even suspected.
Qualified Professional counsellors
All ChatBus counsellors are professionally trained and are members of a professional body such as NZAC.
They receive regular clinical supervision, and engage in regular professional development.
Easy + Discrete Self Referral for Children
An appointment system operates in each school via the school office, and children can freely self refer to ChatBus.
Sometimes school staff or parents make referrals for children. Referrals can be made via the school office, or by email or phone to the ChatBus office. Each appointment is for 30 minutes, and is during class time.
Onsite at School, yet One Step Removed
ChatBus is available at the child’s school, on safe, familiar territory, yet one step removed from the school system.
The child is the client, and as such the child’s privacy and confidentiality is respected.
