Our vision is to change the future for children living in poverty through education. By 2030, So They Can's vision is to empower:
- 2,100 Teachers graduated or mentored and delivering quality education who have impacted the lives of…
- 36,000 students empowered with skills and confidence to live their best life being educated at...
- 60 Schools supported by So They Can.
100 million children in Africa are not in school.
When you empower people through education, everything changes. We believe quality education is a human right and it is our
mission to make it a reality.
To enable quality education, we build from six foundations of learning for every child. The change we create is a quality education to transform the lives of children in need. Our programmes are made up of 3 key areas:
Child Wellbeing
Assisting the most vulnerable of children to attend school through Family Strengthening and nurturing family based care for those most at risk.
Women's Empowerment
Financially empowered mothers are now able to send their children to school
Community Health and Support
Working with communities to ensure children are healthy and enrolled in school.
So They Can was founded in 2009 in response to the 2007 Kenyan election violence that saw more than 300,000 Kenyans internally displaced. The loss of lives, homes, employment and hope was immense.
So They Can was born to deliver on a direct request from this community: ‘We need a school for our children- an education is the only inheritance we can give them’.
