The North Shore CMA (Companionship and Morning Activities) is dedicated to enhancing the lives of isolated older individuals in our communities by offering crucial support, companionship, and stimulation at our eight friendship centres. By providing transportation to all our members, we are meeting the specific needs of isolated and vulnerable seniors in local communities. Isolation becomes a significant concern for older adults once they lose the ability to drive or safely use public transportation.
Loneliness and social isolation in seniors are significant risk factors for mental health issues such as depression and anxiety.
Our goal is to reduce isolation and delay the onset of dementia among seniors by providing engaging, supportive environments at our 8 centers, ensuring they feel valued and stay connected to their community. Additionally, we aim to offer and extend respite care to families and caregivers, alleviating their mental strain and ensuring comprehensive support for our community's older adults.
