Our Mission

Aviva is a Canterbury-based, specialist family and sexual violence agency dedicated to supporting whānau and communities to live free from violence.

About

Aviva is available 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year. We provide specialist services to support people to live a life free from family and sexual violence, and overcome their enduring harms.

Last year, our staff and volunteers supported 1224 children, young people and adults from across Canterbury. We responded to 4066 phone calls to our emergency line.

We support people of any age, gender, ethnicity or sexual orientation who:

  • use (or are at risk of using) violence (ReachOut)
  • are experiencing, or have experienced family violence (for support for adults and families,  visit this page; for support for children and youth, visit this page)
  • have experienced recent or historic sexual assault/rape (through SASSC)
  • are concerned about someone else who may be at risk of violence or using violence (see 'I am a Friend or Family Member').
